Bryan Maynard Sr. Database Administrator at TaxSlayer

Bryan Maynard is the Sr. Database Administrator at TaxSlayer, with over 16 years of experience in Database Administration, Business Intelligence, and Analytics. He is a Data Platform MCSE, and regularly speaks and consults on database administration and professional development within the SQL server community.

In today’s world where privacy is of utmost importance, we as data professionals have a huge responsibility to ensure the data we manage is handled in the most secure way possible. Many types of data we steward are subject to various organizational and governmental regulations related to how it is stored and transmitted. Not meeting the requirements of these regulations can have severe legal and financial ramifications to both you and your respective organizations. In this session I will discuss the considerations that should be made when securing data with regard to infrastructure. I will also review and demonstrate the options available within Microsoft SQL Server to secure data, both at rest and in transit. Armed with this knowledge, you can work within your organization to ensure your data is a secure as possible.
