February 27, 2008 - Transactional Replication for Beginners by Andy Warren, SQL Server Guru, a cofounder of SQLServerCentral.com, noted PASS speaker and currently partner in End to End Training. February 7, 2008 - Ashton Hobbs, SQL Server MVP, author and developer of ApexSQL Edit shared his insights on "Performance Point Server Dashboards." This new Business Intelligence offering from Microsoft has the goal of making BI more accessible to end users. Ashton's presentation detailed the creation of monitoring components in Performance Point Server and showed some product features and their limitations. It also showed steps to using custom components that create new dashboard pieces which can improve the visual and usability aspects of your own dashboards.

November 28, 2007 - John Welch, Chief Architect with Mariner and noted SQL Server speaker shared his insights on "Performance Tuning in SSIS." John showed some general best practices for performances. He covered many details of performance optimization for SSIS data flows, including optimizing execution trees, managing buffer size, and evaluating performance metrics to determine where the bottlenecks are. Also covered were the logging options and performance counters that can be used to monitor performance.

October 16, 2007 - Rick Heiges, SQL Server MVP and PASS Board of Directors member presented the "64-bit Question." Rick showed why you should consider 64-bit SQL Server now and what are some immediate benefits. He covered the differences between IA64 and x64 and a comparison of current and expected 64-bit offerings. The presentation closed with a discussion of 64-bit SQL Server 2000/2005 as well as a peak at Katmai and consolidation.

September 27, 2007 - Brian Knight, Author and SQL Server MVP talked about the good, the bad, and the ugly of DTS migrations in his presentation, "Converting DTS to SSIS." Brian then demonstrated how to migrate a simple DTS package to SSIS and some of the challenges that may occur.
